:: English as a Second Language program ::

Starting in August 2007, the BCC program in Singapore will offer its new English as a Second Language program, which was previously known as the University English Preparation Program. 

What is the purpose of the ESL Program?
These ESL courses are for international students who are at an intermediate level of English and are preparing to enter the BCC program within the next 2-6 months.

Who can be a ESL Program student?
Anyone who has a high school diploma or equivalent degree can attend classes. However, high school students who are at least 16 years old and are preparing to study at University overseas may also attend classes.

 

ESL classes include:

  • Grammar and Writing (6 hours/week)
  • Reading (3 hours/week) Communication Skills (3 hours/week) Tutorial in the English
  • Resource Center
  • (minimum 3 hours/week required for students on student passes)

Where do students go after completing the ESL Program?

  • Students who successfully complete the ESL Program and reach TOEFL 500/173/61 or IELTS 5.0 continue their studies at the Broward Community College program and then go on to universities in the United States , Canada or Australia .

What other services are offered to ESL students?

  • Counseling and academic advising are available
